Novel analytical heat source model for cold rolling based on an energy method and unified yield criterion

Accurate calculation of the heat source in roll gap during cold rolling process is basis for a well-designed coolant system, which particularly important reducing wear and improving flatness quality strip steel. Although many established numerical models have high precision when calculating work temperature, complex modeling processes large times result inability to predict temperature quickly application automatic control systems. Therefore, authors developed new analytical model calculate axial distribution process. First, according deformation characteristics rolling, zone divided into plastic two elastic zones, length each calculated considering effect tension. Then, friction generated calculated. Second, exponential velocity corresponding strain-rate fields satisfying kinematically admissible conditions are proposed zone. Finally, prediction by contemplating gap, emulsion transfer, air cooling, contact transfer with intermediate roll. By repeatedly optimizing weighted coefficient d principal shear stress on yield criterion, maximum error between results actual measured data was reduced 3.1%. The effects reduction ratio, speed, resistance discussed, variation field time analyzed quantitatively.
